Tips to prevent hair from breaking

If you have a serious hair breakage problem, it means that your hair is brittle and weak.

So first, you have to check the shampoo that you are using. Discontinue your
current shampooand go for one, which will help to strengthen your mane. Opt for products that are rich in proteins, which will help in the repairing process.

Sometimes, chemical products,
constant heat styling or the use of hairsprays can cause a lot of damage to our hair and are the reasons why the hair can get dehydrated. Naturally, your hair is rendered weak and is prone to breaking. You need to replenish your hair's lost moisture. Choose a hair conditioner that is specific for rehydrating hair.

If you are having a vitamin deficiency, it could also affect your hair. Take vitamin E and
supplements especially for hair, after consulting your physician.

Hair can also break because of the hairstyle that you sport constantly. If you tie your up in a pony, with
an elastic rubber band, there are chances that due to the tightly wound band, your hair is snapping. Consider changing your hairstyle and see the difference it makes to your hair health.

How to take care of oily skin

Not only does your oily skin make your face look unattractive and greasy, but it also leads to a host of problems like acne, blemishes etc. Here are a few ways you can take care of your skin

Cleansing is important

Keeping your skin clean is very important for people who have oily skin.
Cleanse your skin at least two times in a day to stay clear of excess oil.Toning is also advisable after you've cleansed your skin. This little effort of yours will help varnish excess oil from your skin.

Remember to apply a sunscreen

The use of
sunscreen is very important for those who have oily skin. This type of skin is extremely prone to pigmentation. Make sure you apply an SPF with minimum 20+ before you step out of your house.

Do not apply too much make-up

The use of
make-up tends to spoil your skin. Thus make sure that you only use the basics. Instead of applying a liquid foundation, choose a compact instead. Mineral make-up is also great for those who have oily skin.

Avoid oily foods

It is best to avoid foods that have too much of oil in them. It tends to build the oil level in your body which in turn will make your skin look all the more greasy.

Shape eyebrows the right way

You can use a lot of eye makeup products on your lids and lashes. But bushy or unshapely eyebrows can kill the look.

Makeup artist Megha Puri suggests how to shape the eyebrows according to the face cut. Here are her tips:

Long face: Since the focus will be on shortening the length of the face, go for a thick straight one.

Round face: To complement
facial features, a high arch shape will be apt.

Square face: It should not be overly arched. Make it softly curved.

Oval face: Keep the
brows short to create the illusion of fuller cheeks.

Heart shaped face: Arched look is the best shape for this cut.

Makeup tips to get smokey eyes

Here is how to get the stunning smokey eyes for an evening out

The smokey smouldering eyes look, is something that has been there for a long time. And, the reason for that is simple — it is a look that can be carried off by most of us for if done well, it looks good on any kind of complexion. Another good thing about this look is that it can be sported with both traditional Indian outfits as well as western ensembles. Follow the simple tips to glam up your eyes...

Prime your eyes
Begin by applying a light coat of eye primer. For any kind of makeup, using a primer is important because it helps the makeup to stay on for longer. Dot over
eyelids and then move all the way up till under your eyebrow.

Use light eye-shadow first
Pick a light brown or
nude eye shadow and apply a thin coat on your eyelids. Stay on the lid only. Don't take the dark shadow anywhere close to your brow line.

Blend well
The trick is to blend and then blend some more. Use your fingers if you are deft with it or use absolutely clean brushes.

Line your eyes
Take a gel eye-liner and outline your upper eyelids. Then draw a line on your
bottom lid too. Nowsmudge it with light deft strokes, to get the smokey look.

Coat lashes with mascara
You can now finish your smokey look with coat of mascara. Take the
mascara brush and wipe off the excess on it and then while looking into the mirror with eyes wide open, apply a coat on your lashes from the roots to the tip in a zig-zag manner. Let it dry completely before you go for the second coat. Make sure you opt for a very light single coat on your lower lashes. Over done lower lashes look fake and unappealing.

Tips for leg contouring

Slim, defined legs is what every girl dreams of. They can achieve that with some useful tips, tricks and a bit of fake tan.

Nail guru Leighton Denny shares his three top tips for beautifully contoured legs, reportsfemalefirst.co.uk.

Three tips for leg contouring:

1. Apply
a base colour tan first to give your skin a sun-kissed, ultra-even, health glow. Ideally this should be the night before.
2. Next you need to darken
any areas you want to contour, tone, slim with a darker self-tan again, and then highlight with a bronzer, which will define, illuminate and accentuate.
3. Apply this down either side of the legs, outside and inner, which will instantly make the legs look narrower by drawing the eye to
the middle area. You can also apply down your calf bone to make your legs look slimmer or longer.

Just use
the above tips and walk out of your home in the miniskirts and shorts that you had thrown in the corner of your closet.

Face masks you can make at home

We suggest some simple and natural remedies for your face

Vinegar
It's not just a cooking ingredient, vinegar's use as a skin toner probably dates back to the time of
Helen of Troy! For a glowing and gorgeous complexion, follow this small tip before you go off to bed: wash your face with one tablespoon of apple cider vinegar combined with two cups of water. It will cleanse and tighten your skin.

Lemon
Lemon is a natural exfoliator and cleanser. For fresh-looking skin, try this: Mix some lemon juice with olive oil or sweet almond oil and apply it on your face every alternate day.

Egg
Eggs make for great face packs. So, if you have dry skin, use an egg paste to moisturise. Separate the egg from the yolk and add a little lemon juice or honey to it. If you have oily skin, use only egg whites. If you are blessed with normal skin, use the entire egg. Keep the paste for 30 minutes and rinse it off.
Note: Do not use a face wash after rinsing it off.

Milk
Want to look fresh without spending too much effort and money? Try this: Make a paste of milk and honey and apply it on your face. Make sure that the paste is thick. Let it dry completely and then rinse with warm water. It will make your face fresh and rejuvenated.

Yoghurt
One of the best ways to brighten your skin — and also remove tan — is by using a face pack that contains yoghurt. If you are looking for a quick fix to tighten the pores, apply plain yoghurt on your face. Keep it on for 20 minutes and wash it off. For a revitalizing mask, mix yoghurt with some orange juice and aloe vera. Leave the mixture on your face for five minutes before washing it off.

Bananas
Who needs Botox when bananas can do the trick?
Bananas moisturise your skin and leave it feeling and looking softer. Mash up a medium-sized ripe banana and smoothen it into a paste. Apply this gently on your face and neck. Keep it on for 10-20 minutes before you wash it off with cold water. If you want, add some honey and rose water to the mixture.

Mayonnaise
Why waste money on expensive serums when you can get the same results using mayonnaise? Gently apply a teaspoon of eggless mayonnaise on your face and keep it on for 20 minutes. Let it dry; then wipe it off and rinse with cool water. This will keep your skin clean and smooth.

How to highlight your eye with colour

The eyes are the windows to the soul. Highlighting your eyes is an easy way to brighten up your face.

Some people want to highlight the
colour of their eyes, but don't know which colour suit them the best. Before you apply any colour of eyeliner oreye shadow, apply some moisturizer on your eyelids so that the colour is retained for longer.

Brown eyes: To make your eyes stand out, use purple eyeliner or eye shadow on your lids. The soft purple colour highlights
the warm brown tone of the eyes. This eye colour is the easiest to compliment. Every shade suits brown eyes without making them look tacky. Chose a darker liner in the shade of eye shadow you have applied to give a subtler look. Earthy colours like green, grey, brown, blue and pink go well with this eye colour. Black eyeliner also gives the eyes a dramatic effect. If you want some shimmer, add some gold or brown metallic tones. They will make your eyes look more attractive.
Green eyes: Plum and
burgundy colours highlight green eyes in the best way. These dark colours add a more dramatic effect to the light green of the eyes. Avoid using blues, pinks and whites as the light colour has the opposite effect with light green eyes. To add shine, bronze, gold and copper eye shadow colours can be used. It's better to opt for a brown liner over black.
Blue eyes: Warmer tones look best on blue eyes. Copper is one colour that enhances the blue tones of the eyes. To add shimmer, gold or bronze eye shadow can be used. Shiny pink shades can work too. Brown also enhances the blue of the eyes. Instead of using a black coloured mascara, it is advisable to use a brown one as this colour makes the lashes look more natural.
Grey eyes: They are the easiest to work with as they are not too dark and neither too bright. Almost all the colours go well with these eyes. Black eyeliner gives the eyes a more dramatic effect while lighter hues like brown copper, bronze etc, make the eyes look warmer and make them stand out more. Some of the colours that can be avoided are pink, white and yellow.
The smoky eye effect works with every eye colour. Smoky eyes especially at night look more glamorous and dramatic. The best eye shadow combination will be a mix of two or three colours that go well together. It is also important to choose shadow colours that go well with your skin tones. Also, you can choose more neutral shades for blush and your lip colour. This helps keep the focus on your eyes. It's important to try and see what works best for you, because what suits someone else might not suit you at all.
